Shifting Fates

Shifting Fates - Aubrey Rose, Nadia Simonenko My Thoughts - 3 out of 5 Unicorns - I liked it!!!

The Cover is haunting but beautiful all at the same time. It really gets your attention :)

I liked this story. Things you might want to know is this is a novella. I’m not sure whether this is considered a serial series or not, but at least to me it seems to fit that mold. This story has shifting point of views between Cage and Bindi. Each chapter is labeled at the beginning of whose POV it is. I only tell you this because some people do not like this, but it doesn’t bother me at all.

I think this new world I’ve been introduced to is unique and different to other shifter books I’ve read. It has grabbed my interest in a big way, and I think it will only get better. Sometimes with novella and serial series it takes me a couple books before I’m completely connected to the characters and their lives, and it is also hard to learn a lot about a new world when it is a novella in only one book.

I really like Bindi. She is so strong for a 20 year old taking care of a bunch of kids on her own in a world that hates her. The kids seem fun, but I don’t know enough about them other than Kit seems adorable :) Cage seems like a nice guy, but he is also blinded by his hate. How can you hate an entire group of people simply because one did something bad? But we have this problem in the real world, I have just never understood it. Even in high school, I had a friend whose dad was killed in Jamaica, he hated a whole group of people based on their skin color because of one person. It just makes no sense to me because there are good and bad people/animals in every group and species on the planet. Sorry off on a tangent…lol

Aubrey and Nadia do a great job writing the story. I do not see any disconnect where you can tell two authors are writing it. I love the descriptions and learning about their world. I can’t wait to read more about this unique world.

I recommend this novella to lovers of new worlds of shifters. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
